Letter to John B. Cameron, Jr. (Secretary, Grandfather Mt. Branch)
from Colonel Sir Donald Hamish Cameron of Lochiel, XXVI Chief of Clan Cameron
August 14, 1968
(regarding the founding of Clan Cameron North America)

Thank you very much for your letter of 8th August.  I am delighted to hear that you have formed a Grandfather Mountain Branch of the Clan Cameron Association and I shall be very pleased and honoured to be appointed Chief of this Branch.

I have heard a great deal about the activities of Camerons in North Carolina and of the Games you held annually at Grandfather Mountain.  My wife and I hope very much that one day we shall be able to visit these Games and to meet some of the many loyal Camerons who live in North Carolina.  As you may have heard we were out there for two or three days last November but that was, of course, not nearly as long as we would have liked.

I think you are very wise to adopt the Constitution and Bylaws of the Clan Cameron Association of Scotland as advised by Mr. A.D. Cameron.

Thank you for your good wishes on the occasion of the marriage of our daughter Anne who is to be married here on 21st September.

I look forward to welcoming any members of your Branch when they visit this country and I trust they will get in touch with me at Achnacarry when they are over here.

With all good wishes.

Yours sincerely,

D.H. Cameron of Lochiel
