Editor's Note: As listed in Appendix II of Alexander Mackenzie's
"History of the Camerons."
Mackenzie mentions that in the original statement "there were 'many cottars,
and herds, and sub-tenants,' whose names were 'not put down' by the factor."
This comment seems to have been attached to the original rent statement,
and not simply Mackenzie's opinion, since he quoted some source, in all
probability the original document.
A number of the place names may be spelled in a different fashion from
the present day, but most familiar with Lochaber may comprehend them. |
